out-takes from Christmas

I made the girls dresses for Christmas. I had no intention of doing so, until I was given the fabric and the pattern. I wanted to send a picture of the girls wearing the finished products to the woman who gave me the fabric. Ann got two wears out of her dress: her Mother's Day Out Christmas performance and the Christmas Eve service, where both girls wore theirs. If you scroll the the very bottom, you'll see the one moderately decent photo where both girls are somewhat smiling and looking at the camera.
And here's a selection of the others:

Have there ever been two more unhappy girls in the history of forced Christmas pictures?
I don't know why full-fledged crying is necessary for this situation.

This was after I let Catherine take off her tights in hopes for a more cooperative spirit.

This one is when the empty fireplace is more interesting that smiling for a picture.

sitting down wasn't working...

...so we tried standing up.
And so, after a game of "hand up, hands down, hand up, hands down," we get a little closer to our goal. Except that Catherine has crazy eyes.

Here it is. The absolute best I (we) could do. sigh.
